When talking about the quality of OSS and its viability in an industrial context, a central aspect to be considered is the interoperability of systems. Interoperability has become a crucial competitive factor. In particular this is true for the OSS domain, which by nature is characterized through vendor independence, competitiveness and a high diversity of software and actors.
